The farms have been in Peter Thomson’s family for over 100 years and raspberries have been grown here for that length of time.  Originally the farms were run along with the textile spinning mills, which can still be seen on the farms. The spinning industry declined however and the mills closed in 1979, since when the family business has been solely fruit growing and packing.  Peter Thomson has worked with the company since leaving university in 1976.  Melanie joined the firm in 1987 having originally worked as a horticultural advisor.
